The Government of India held an inter-ministerial media briefing at the National Media Centre on 4 May 2026 on recent developments in West Asia. Since March 2026, about 6.12 lakh PNG connections had been gasified and infrastructure was created for another 2.67 lakh.
The maritime update said all Indian seafarers in the region were safe and no incident involving Indian-flagged vessels had been reported in the previous 24 hours. The DG Shipping control room had handled 8,414 calls and more than 18,064 emails since activation. The External Affairs Ministry said Indian missions were running round-the-clock helplines, issuing advisories and assisting Indian nationals, while flights from the region to India were improving.
