The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said on May 5, 2026 that the 130th meeting of the Enforcement Task Force of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas reviewed intensified enforcement actions across Delhi-NCR. The meeting was held on May 4, 2026 and examined inspections undertaken during the reporting period from April 11 to April 28, 2026. In those 18 days, the Commission's Flying Squads carried out 174 inspections: 26 at Construction and Demolition sites, 40 in the industrial sector and 108 related to Diesel Generator sets. A total of 61 violations were reported, including 12 from C&D sites, 8 from the industrial sector and 41 linked to DG sets. On the basis of inspection reports, the proposed actions include closure of 6 units or projects, sealing of 31 DG sets, issuance of 6 Show Cause Notices and imposition of Environmental Compensation in 11 cases. One case has been proposed for prosecution under Section 14 of the CAQM Act, while some cases have been referred back to CPCB or SPCBs for further examination. The Task Force also reviewed action since its previous meeting on April 17, 2026. It noted 66 Closure, SCN, Sealing and EC letters, including 6 from the industrial sector, 22 from C&D sites and 38 related to DG sets, along with 16 resumption orders after compliance verification. As of May 4, 2026, Flying Squads had cumulatively inspected 27,008 units, projects or entities. These inspections led to 1,779 Closure Directions, of which 1,365 Resumption Orders were issued after compliance. The Commission stressed priority enforcement for DG sets, C&D activities, industrial emissions and road dust management, along with stronger data integrity, inter-agency coordination and accountability.
