On 11 May 2026, the occasion of National Technology Day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced the institution of the Brahmagupta Award to honour exceptional contributions in science, mathematics, innovation and research, named after the seventh century mathematician and astronomer Brahmagupta who was associated with Bhinmal in present-day Jalore district.
