On 11 May 2026, the occasion of National Technology Day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced the institution of the Brahmagupta Award to honour exceptional contributions in science, mathematics, innovation and research, named after the seventh century mathematician and astronomer Brahmagupta who was associated with Bhinmal in present-day Jalore district. He further announced the establishment of an Innovation Centre for youth at Jaipur's coaching hub to encourage start-ups, creativity and technological entrepreneurship among students and young innovators in the state. The Chief Minister also announced a State-Level Drone Cell to support applications of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and modern technology in disaster management, agriculture, urban planning and environmental protection. The announcements were made at the state-level National Technology Day function in Jaipur, attended by senior ministers and scientists. The Chief Minister said that the Rajasthan government is committed to nurturing the next generation of innovators and aligning the state with the national Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. The Brahmagupta Award is expected to be conferred annually across categories covering science, mathematics, research and grassroots innovation. The Innovation Centre will provide incubation, mentoring and seed support, while the Drone Cell will train officers and farmers in unmanned aerial system applications. The package strengthens Rajasthan's science and technology policy framework alongside the existing IT and Startup policies of the state.
