The Rajasthan Government, through the Devasthan Department under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has invited applications for the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme 2026 (Mukhya Mantri Varishtha Nagrik Tirth Yatra Yojana). Applications opened on 27 May 2026 and the window remains active till 10 June 2026 through the official eDevasthan portal as well as authorised e Mitra centres located across the State. Under this flagship welfare scheme, the State Government bears the full cost of travel, accommodation and meals for selected senior citizens.

A total of 56000 beneficiaries will be selected through a transparent lottery system this year. Of these, 6000 pilgrims will travel by air to the revered Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal, while the remaining 50000 will undertake pilgrimage by air conditioned trains to various religious circuits across India covering important Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist and Christian religious destinations to ensure beneficiaries from different communities can avail the benefits of the scheme.

Residents of Rajasthan who have completed 60 years of age as on 1 April 2026 are eligible to apply. Applicants aged 70 years and above can bring along one attendant, with the cost fully covered by the State Government. The scheme, originally launched in 2013 and revamped under the current government, aims to extend the cultural and religious life of senior citizens and aligns with Rajasthan Budget 2026 27 priorities of welfare driven development. Selection results will be announced after the application window closes and the lottery is held jointly by the Devasthan Department and district authorities.
