Rajasthan Opens MSP Registration for Mustard and Gram on March 20 Ahead of April 1 Procurement

Rajasthan began online registration on March 20, 2026 for farmers in the Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur and Bikaner divisions to sell mustard and gram at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the Rabi 2025-26 season. The Union Government has fixed the MSP at ₹6,200 per quintal for mustard and ₹5,875 per quintal for gram under the FAQ (Fair Average Quality) norms. Actual procurement in these four divisions will commence from April 1, 2026. The other four divisions — Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur and Sriganganagar — had already opened online registration on March 15 and begin procurement from March 25. The Rajasthan State Cooperative Marketing Federation (RAJFED) is the state nodal agency, working alongside central procurement agencies: NCCF handles 19 districts under the Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Kota regional offices, while NAFED covers 22 districts under the Jaipur, Udaipur, Sriganganagar and Bharatpur regional offices. In Jaipur district alone, 42 procurement centres have been established to ease farmer access. Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies for Jaipur Rural, Uday Deep Singh Rathod, said MSP rates conform to standards set by the Government of India. Farmers have a maximum of ten days from their scheduled date to bring produce for weighment. A toll-free helpline 1800-180-6001 has been publicised for registration queries and grievances. The move is significant because Rabi oilseeds and pulses are core dryland crops in Rajasthan — the state consistently ranks among India's top producers of mustard and gram, and a timely MSP operation helps insulate growers from price crashes when the harvest enters mandis.
