Rajasthan Government Releases Film Tourism Promotion Policy 2025 with Subsidies up to ₹3 Crore; Aims to Establish State as Major Filming Hub

The Rajasthan government led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma released the Rajasthan Film Tourism Promotion Policy 2025 on December 24, 2025, a major effort to position the state as a preferred destination for national and international film productions. Under the new policy, filmmakers will be eligible for subsidies of up to 30 per cent of expenditure incurred on shooting feature films, web series, TV serials and documentaries in Rajasthan. The maximum subsidy is capped at ₹3 crore for feature films, ₹2 crore for web series, ₹1.5 crore for TV serials and ₹2 crore for documentaries. To qualify, a minimum in-state expenditure of ₹2 crore is mandatory for feature films and ₹1 crore for web series, TV serials and Rajasthani-language films. Productions shot entirely in Rajasthan will receive an additional 5 per cent incentive within the prescribed limits. The policy also provides for 100 per cent reimbursement of permission fees for up to five days at locations under State and Central government control. Special award-linked incentives include up to ₹1 crore for feature films winning international awards and up to ₹50 lakh for National Film Awards. A skill-development track offers 10 annual scholarships to Rajasthan students at the Film and Television Institute of India (Pune), the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (Kolkata) and the National School of Drama (New Delhi), each covering tuition up to ₹50,000 and a monthly stipend of ₹5,000. Films availing subsidies must meet minimum theatrical release norms — 200 screens for Hindi films, 25 for Rajasthani films, 100 for other languages — and credit the Rajasthan Government and Tourism Department. CM Bhajanlal Sharma said the policy will establish the state as a filming hub and generate youth employment, while Deputy CM Diya Kumari emphasised streamlined administrative processes to ensure ease of doing business.
