Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Pulse Self-Reliance Mission in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh on February 10, 2026. The mission targets self-reliance in pulse production to reduce India's dependence on imports, particularly of tur, masoor, and urad.

The programme plans 1,000 pulse mills nationwide with a subsidy of ₹25 lakh each. Madhya Pradesh will get 55 mills. For Rajasthan, a major pulse-growing state (especially moong and moth), this mission is significant as it aligns with the Budget 2026-27 MSP linkage for five additional crops including moong.
