Frequently asked questions

Does REET Level 1 have negative marking?

No. The REET paper carries 150 multiple-choice questions worth 150 marks total, and there is no deduction for a wrong answer. Each correct answer adds one mark; a wrong answer or an un-attempted question both count as zero. This is a load-bearing fact for paper-day strategy — the safer move is to attempt every question.

What score do I need to qualify?

The qualifying cutoff depends on your category. General candidates need 60% (90 marks). OBC, EBC, MBC, SC, ST, and PwD candidates need 55% (82.5 marks). Widow, divorcee, and ex-servicemen candidates need 50% (75 marks). Sahariya region candidates need 36% (54 marks). The cutoff matrix in this tool comes from the RBSE eligibility framework.

How is the Outcome Simulator different from Actual Score?

Use Actual Score when you already know exactly how many of your 150 attempts you got right. Use the Outcome Simulator if you want to plan for different effort levels — set a target attempt count and accuracy, see the projected score, and check whether it clears your category cutoff comfortably or barely.

How long is the REET certificate valid?

A REET certificate is valid for a lifetime. The 7-year validity rule was removed when the National Council for Teacher Education updated its TET notification in 2021. Source: NCTE Notification archive.
