The 68th Session of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Governing Body Meeting (GBM) concluded successfully at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on 23 May 2026 after India, as the current Chair of the APO, hosted the three-day event from 20 to 22 May 2026. The meeting was organised by the National Productivity Council (NPC) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The session brought together over 60 senior delegates representing twenty APO member economies, together with APO Directors, Advisors, representatives of diplomatic missions and invitees. Observers from the governments of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Bhutan and from the Global Green Growth Institute also took part. The inaugural session on 21 May 2026 was graced by Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal who delivered the keynote address. The agenda focused on the APO Vision 2030 framework, the preliminary budget for the 2027-28 biennium, the review of APO Secretary-General election procedures, AI driven growth, and regional cooperation. APO National Awards for Productivity Advocates and Technical Experts were also conferred. The Meeting marked key leadership transitions, with APO Director for Indonesia Prof. Anwar Sanusi assuming charge as APO Chair for 2026-27, succeeding APO Director for India and DPIIT Secretary Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia. The APO, established in 1961 with headquarters in Tokyo, is a non-political, non-profit, non-discriminatory intergovernmental organisation, and India is a founder member.
