The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that India will host the BRICS National Security Advisers' (NSA) meeting on June 22 and 23. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will chair the meeting. According to the MEA press release, the theme of the meeting will be "Non-traditional security challenges confronting the world today". The gathering will set the stage for the BRICS Summit to be held in India in September, with India holding the rotating presidency of the BRICS bloc this year. The bloc's members include Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. The meeting will witness the participation of NSAs and heads of delegation of BRICS member countries, including Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russian NSA Sergei Shoigu and Iranian Supreme National Security Council Deputy Secretary Nezamipour. The delegations from participating nations will engage in discussions on the rapidly evolving nature of national security challenges and the role of new technologies in emerging security threats. The statement noted that the National Security Advisers and heads of delegation will also review the outcomes of the recently held BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism and on Security in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). The meeting underscores India's diplomatic role within the expanded BRICS grouping and its focus on cooperative security frameworks among emerging economies, reflecting the bloc's growing engagement on contemporary, non-traditional security concerns.
