The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) held the third preparatory meeting of the BRICS Women Track on 29 June 2026 in virtual mode under India's BRICS Chairship. The meeting was convened on the theme 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability' and was chaired by Shri Anil Malik, Secretary, MoWCD. The meeting served as a run-up to the 'BRICS Women's Working Group Meeting' and the 'BRICS Women Ministerial-level Meeting', both scheduled to be held at Kochi, Kerala, from 6 to 9 July 2026. The Chair emphasised the significance of this preparatory meeting for advancing preparations for the Kochi events. Discussions focused on carrying forward deliberations on priority areas and key deliverables, including the Digital Compendium of Best Practices and the BRICS Women's Capacity Building Guidelines. During the meeting, BRICS member countries shared their valuable suggestions and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation and consensus-based outcomes. Congratulating India on its BRICS Chairship, member countries appreciated the progress achieved under the Women Track and pledged continued cooperation to strengthen collaboration on women empowerment. The Chair thanked all participating delegations for their constructive contributions and reiterated India's commitment to fostering practical partnerships that promote women-led development across BRICS nations. The initiative reflects India's priority of placing women-led development at the centre of its BRICS agenda and building consensus among member states ahead of the ministerial-level engagement in Kerala.
