Amar Ujala reported on 29 April 2026 that Rajasthan would begin a self-enumeration process from 1 May to 15 May 2026, allowing citizens to enter details about themselves and their families through the official online portal. The report said Governor Haribhau Bagade appealed to residents to participate, describing the digital option as an important step toward making the census process more transparent and effective.

The report explained that the census is not only a headcount but also the basis for preparing a national document. It records important information such as education, employment, sex ratio and caste-related data, which can guide future policies and schemes. After the self-enumeration window, enumerators are scheduled to visit households from 16 May to 14 June 2026 to collect information. In the first stage, details related to house listing, household facilities and assets will be entered through a mobile application. Citizens have been asked to provide correct and complete information to the enumerators.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also appealed for cooperation, noting that Rajasthan is India’s largest state by area and that enumerators will have to travel long distances to reach each household. He urged people to follow the state’s tradition of hospitality while assisting census workers. The Chief Minister said accurate information given today would form the foundation for a developed Rajasthan and a developed India. The report added that the digital self-enumeration process is expected to improve convenience for citizens, increase public participation and make administrative work simpler by improving data collection accuracy.
