The Rajasthan State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma approved the Rajasthan Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Policy 2026, marking a major step in positioning the state as a hub for technology-driven investment and innovation. The cabinet decision, reported by Doordarshan News on 6 June 2026, aligns the policy with the larger Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy 2026, the IT and ITeS Policy and the Startup Policy under the Rising Rajasthan framework.

The primary objective of the AI and ML Policy 2026 is to make public services faster, more transparent and citizen-centric through the responsible, ethical and secure use of AI and ML, while enhancing administrative efficiency and promoting innovation-led economic growth. The policy lays out sector-focused strategies for agriculture, healthcare, education, skill development, urban governance, public safety and judicial administration, building on existing platforms such as Jan Soochna Portal, Raj eSign and the state data analytics framework.

Key features include creation of a State AI Mission with a dedicated Centre of Excellence, an AI Compute and Cloud Infrastructure plan, AI sandboxes for startups and academia, dedicated fiscal incentives for AI and ML units, and partnerships with central institutions like MeitY, IndiaAI Mission, IITs and IIITs. The policy also commits to a responsible AI framework covering data privacy, algorithmic transparency, bias mitigation, grievance redress and protection of constitutional rights, and integrates skilling programmes for at least one lakh young professionals through ITIs, universities and the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation.
