On 24 May 2026 the Rajasthan State Government held final review meetings at the Secretariat in Jaipur to finalise preparations for the launch of the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan-2026 a flagship statewide water conservation campaign. The mega environmental drive will be flagged off by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma from Jaipur on 25 May 2026 Ganga Dashami and will continue until 5 June 2026 World Environment Day spanning twelve days across every district of Rajasthan. The campaign is the second edition of the Vande Ganga campaign first launched by CM Sharma on 4 June 2025. The 2026 edition aims to address the deepening water crisis in villages through proper management of rainwater conservation and revival of ponds wells stepwells tanks and other traditional water bodies. The campaign integrates Jal Shakti Abhiyan Catch the Rain Mission Water and Atal Bhujal Yojana convergence with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme labour for desilting tank rehabilitation and recharge structure construction. District level launches are being led by District Ministers in charge with the Karauli launch by Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham. Activities will span state level Jal Yatra processions plantation of indigenous tree species awareness rallies in 11000 gram panchayats and dedicated programmes in schools. The campaign will culminate on 5 June 2026 with district closing ceremonies where individuals and organisations demonstrating exemplary work in water conservation will be honoured with the prestigious Jal Gaurav Samman. The drive aligns with the Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy 2026 4G framework Green Governance Growth Globalisation and Viksit Rajasthan 2047 vision in a state where the IMD has issued severe heat wave warnings till 30 May.
