Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced that more than 11 lakh additional rural women of the state will be elevated to the Lakhpati Didi status in the next three years through the Rajasthan Rural Livelihoods Mission, calling economic empowerment of women a key priority of his government. Already 17.5 lakh women in the state have crossed the annual income threshold of Rupees 1 lakh under the convergence of central and state schemes. The Rajasthan Budget 2026-27 announced a major enhancement of the Lakhpati Didi loan limit from Rupees 1 lakh to Rupees 1.5 lakh, with interest rate reduced to 1.5 per cent to support women entrepreneurs. Women linked to the mission are taking up specialised roles such as Krishi Sakhi who provide last mile extension services in agriculture, Pashu Sakhi who deliver animal husbandry support, and Bank Sakhi who act as banking correspondents for Self Help Groups. The Mukhyamantri Nari Shakti Udyam Protsahan Yojana loan limit has been raised to Rupees 1 crore for womens self help group federations. The state has set a target of training 11.24 lakh women across all 40 districts under the National Rural Livelihood Mission convergence framework, with skill linkages to the PMFME scheme, Mudra Yojana, NABARD financing and Khadi Village Industries. The announcement aligns with the central Lakhpati Didi initiative under the Ministry of Rural Development that aims to enable 3 crore Lakhpati Didis nationally.
