On the initiative of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the National Rural Development Conclave is being organised for the first time on 28 and 29 June at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, Pusa, New Delhi. Chaired by Chouhan, the conclave centres on the vision of 'Viksit Gram, Viksit Bharat' (Developed Village, Developed India) and aims to translate it on the ground. Rural development ministers of all states and Union Territories, along with senior officials, policymakers and experts, will participate to build a shared Centre-State strategy for holistic village development, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. The conclave will review the progress of major schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), the rural skill development programme and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). Special focus will be placed on effective implementation of the Viksit Bharat-G Ram G (VB-GRAM-G) Act-2025, better planning at the Gram Panchayat level and efficient use of resources. Thematic and breakout sessions will discuss rural housing, road connectivity, livelihood, skill development and social security, and states will share successful innovations. The 'Lakhpati Didi' initiative, women's economic empowerment through self-help groups, and the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence for transparency and real-time monitoring will also be discussed. On 29 June, plenary and ministerial sessions will finalise the future action plan, with Chouhan presenting the conclusions and underlining the central role of villages in achieving a developed India by 2047. Several important publications will also be released during the event.
