The Ministry of Minority Affairs has announced Haj Policy 2027. Union Minister of Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, released the policy and announced that the Haj Committee will begin inviting applications from prospective pilgrims for Haj-2027. Aspirants can apply online through the Haj Committee of India portal (hajcommittee.gov.in) and the Haj Suvidha App, making the process flexible, simple and more accessible. The quota is expected to remain split between the Haj Committee of India and the private sector in a 70:30 ratio, with 1,22,518 seats for the Haj Committee of India and 52,507 seats for the private sector; the Government will seek to increase the overall quota, which was 1,75,025 last year. The announcement followed the Haj review meeting held on 18 June 2026, chaired by the Minister, which reviewed Haj-2026 and finalised the framework for Haj-2027. Among key changes, the State Haj Inspector ratio has been improved from one inspector per 150 pilgrims to one per 135. The top 20 percent of Haj-2026 final waitlist applicants will be given priority, the short Haj package continues, and Kolkata has been added as an additional embarkation point. Medical screening has been aligned with Saudi guidelines and made stricter. The Ministry is also adopting AI-based measures, including a conversational AI assistant in Hindi, Urdu and major regional languages, and integration with the Saudi Nusuk platform. Saudi Arabia conferred two Labbaytum awards on the Indian Haj Mission for Haj 2026 for the first time.
