Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma on 29 May 2026 inaugurated the Neendad Bainad Biodiversity Project Eco Trail in the Neendad forest area of Sirohi district, marking a major step in the state strategy to combine biodiversity conservation with rural ecotourism. During the ceremony the Chief Minister planted a white sandalwood sapling, installed earthen water pots for birds in the summer heat, and distributed Tulsi saplings to women self help group members, sending out a strong message on grassroots environmental stewardship. He noted that the Neendad forest region holds immense ecological and tourism potential and announced that the state will develop large scale afforestation, dedicated walking tracks, eco friendly public amenities, signage and interpretation centres so that visitors can experience the Aravalli landscape, its medicinal plants, butterflies and avifauna. Continuing the day programme, the Chief Minister joined villagers and forest department workers in performing shramdaan at a local anicut under the ongoing Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan 2026, a state wide campaign running from Ganga Dashami on 25 May 2026 to World Environment Day on 5 June 2026. Speaking on the occasion he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the vision of water self reliance in Rajasthan is becoming a reality, and called on every citizen to actively contribute to the conservation, recharge and augmentation of water resources by reviving traditional anicuts, johads, bawaris and ponds. Officials were directed to integrate biodiversity protection with the Catch The Rain framework and to ensure measurable outcomes in groundwater recharge and forest cover.
