Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 May 2026 virtually addressed the 19th Rozgar Mela and distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth across the country through video conferencing. The mega recruitment drive was organised simultaneously at 47 locations nationwide as a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at accelerating employment generation and strengthening citizen centric governance. The newly inducted candidates joined key central ministries and departments including the Indian Railways, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services and the Department of Higher Education. More than 50 per cent of the appointments under the 19th Rozgar Mela were dedicated to the rapidly expanding sectors of the Indian Railways, reflecting the government thrust on transport infrastructure, station modernisation under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Vande Bharat manufacturing, dedicated freight corridors and railway electrification. Since the launch of the Rozgar Mela by the Prime Minister in October 2022, eighteen previous editions have collectively issued around twelve lakh recruitment letters across central government organisations, public sector banks, autonomous bodies and central armed police forces. New recruits also began their orientation through the Karmayogi Bharat platform under the Mission Karmayogi capacity building reform framework. The 19th Rozgar Mela reaffirms the Centre commitment to youth employment, skilling and the larger vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047 through demographic dividend driven nation building.
