On September 22, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the redeveloped Tripura Sundari Temple Complex at Udaipur in Tripura's Gomati district. Built in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, the temple is one of the 51 revered Shakti Peethas in India and the third such shrine in eastern India after Kolkata's Kalighat and Guwahati's Kamakhya Temple.

The redevelopment was carried out under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) scheme of the Union Tourism Ministry at a cost of over ₹54 crore. Chief Minister Manik Saha and Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu received the PM at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. This was Modi's 11th visit to Tripura and his second visit to the Tripura Sundari Temple since becoming PM in 2014.
