Yoga Mahotsav 2026 was inaugurated in New Delhi on March 13, 2026. It formally began the 100-day countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga, which falls on June 21, 2026. The programme was organised by the Ministry of Ayush, and its core message links yoga with holistic health, mental balance, emotional resilience and preventive healthcare.

For exam preparation, this is not just a cultural event. It connects with India's soft power, public health policy, preventive healthcare and the global recognition of Indian knowledge traditions. The United Nations proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in 2014 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal at the United Nations General Assembly. For RAS and UPSC prelims, likely recall areas include the date, ministry, 12th edition and the United Nations linkage.

During the 100-day period, yoga sessions, workshops and awareness campaigns are to be organised across India and through Indian missions abroad. At the inaugural event, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav also launched 10 yoga protocols designed for non-communicable diseases and different target groups. As part of the Yoga 365 campaign, the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga exchanged an MoU with Habuild to offer free daily online yoga sessions. Static GK questions may draw from UN observance days, health policy, India's cultural diplomacy and public-awareness campaigns in governance.
