Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda presided over the national-level World Tuberculosis Day 2026 event at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida on March 24, launching the 'TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan - 100 Days Campaign' along with the TB Mukt Bharat App and the TB Mukt Urban Ward Initiative.

The campaign will cover 1.58 lakh villages and urban wards, with locally tailored micro-plans to ensure precision in implementation. It focuses on vulnerable populations including the urban poor, tribal communities, and migrant groups, aiming to bridge last-mile gaps in TB detection and treatment.

Since the commencement of the broader TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in December 2024, over 20 crore vulnerable individuals have been screened, leading to the detection of 32.65 lakh TB patients across the country. India has achieved a 21% reduction in TB incidence.

The theme for World TB Day 2026 is 'Yes! We Can End TB!', reflecting a global call to action to accelerate efforts against one of the world's deadliest infectious diseases. India aims to eliminate TB ahead of the global target of 2030.
