The Rajasthan Cabinet, on December 12, 2025, approved the Non-Resident Rajasthani (NRR) Policy 2025, a comprehensive framework aimed at reconnecting the Rajasthani diaspora with their homeland through social, cultural, and economic engagement. The policy is seen as a major follow-up action to the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, reinforcing the state government's commitment to leveraging its diaspora for development.

The NRR Policy 2025 covers multiple dimensions of engagement. On the social front, it establishes mechanisms for maintaining identity links with Rajasthanis settled abroad, including digital identity registration and access to state services. Culturally, the policy promotes the preservation and promotion of Rajasthani language, art, music, and festivals among diaspora communities. Economically, it creates a structured framework for NRRs to invest in Rajasthan through simplified procedures, single-window clearance, and priority sector incentives.

A flagship initiative under the policy is the Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Awards, recognising outstanding contributions of the diaspora to fields including business, arts, social service, and science. Currently, there are 26 recognised NRR chapters globally, covering major destinations such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

The policy also envisages an NRR Grievance Redressal Portal and an annual NRR Convention to be held in Rajasthan. Officials estimate that approximately 15 to 20 lakh Rajasthanis live outside India, with significant populations in Gulf countries involved in trade and skilled labour. The NRR Policy aims to convert this diaspora goodwill into tangible investments, cultural exchange, and philanthropic contributions to the state.
