At the 4th BRICS Sherpas Meeting in Brasilia, Brazil formally handed over the BRICS presidency gavel to India. Ambassador Mauricio Lyrio transferred the gavel, made from repurposed Amazon wood, to India's Sherpa Ambassador Sudhakar Dalela.

India will chair BRICS for the fourth time (previously 2012, 2016, 2021) and will host the next BRICS Summit in 2026. India's presidency will be structured around four pillars: Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. PM Modi proposed redefining BRICS as 'Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability'. BRICS member countries listed on the Government of India BRICS youth page include Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and UAE.
