The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the recipients of the Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar 2026 on January 23, Parakram Diwas, recognising outstanding contributions in disaster management across India. The prestigious national award honours individuals and organisations that have demonstrated excellence in disaster preparedness, mitigation, rescue operations, and post-disaster response and recovery efforts.

The award was instituted in 2019 by the Government of India and is conferred annually on January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, to acknowledge the selfless service and dedication of disaster management professionals. Under the current award-category description, individual awardees receive a scroll and a medal, while institutional awardees receive a scroll and a plaque.

The selection process is conducted by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) through a rigorous evaluation of nominees from across the country. Categories include government organisations, non-government organisations, civil defence volunteers, and individual responders who have contributed significantly to saving lives during natural and man-made disasters. The MHA emphasised that the award aims to encourage a culture of disaster resilience and preparedness at all levels of governance and society, aligned with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction adopted by the United Nations.
