On February 3, 2026, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma directed authorities to take the strictest possible legal action against drug trafficking gangs, gangster networks, and hardcore criminals. He ordered the launch of special campaigns to make the state drug-free. During a high-level meeting of the Home Department at the Chief Minister Residence in Jaipur, the CM said effective control must be ensured over gangsters and habitual offenders and that drug supply routes particularly in border areas must be monitored with heightened vigilance.

Sharma directed officials to dismantle small and large drug trafficking networks under a special action plan and ensure strong legal prosecution in narcotics cases. He prioritised cyber crime prevention with special drives against syndicates and asked officials to promote awareness programs on the harmful effects of drugs in schools and colleges. He directed monitoring progress every 10 days with accountability for negligence.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, senior police officials, and Inspectors General and Superintendents of Police from various districts via video conference. The CM noted that the state achieved significant crime reduction over the past two years and emphasised that modern policing requires adoption of advanced technologies to counter technology-driven crimes. He said drug abuse is the root cause of crime and has long-term adverse effects on families and society.
