The Rajasthan High Court's division bench has upheld a single bench order cancelling the Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment Examination 2021 conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission. The court found substantial evidence of paper leaks and organised impersonation rackets that compromised the integrity of the examination.

The ruling affects thousands of candidates who had appeared for the SI recruitment exam, which was held to fill vacancies in the Rajasthan Police. The division bench observed that the scale of malpractice was so extensive that conducting the examination afresh was the only fair remedy for genuine candidates.

Following the verdict, former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot demanded that the ruling BJP government take responsibility and act swiftly to conduct fresh examinations. Gehlot accused the state government of 'shifting blame to the previous Congress government' instead of addressing systemic issues in the examination process.

The SI exam cancellation adds to a growing list of recruitment examination controversies in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has announced that the Sub-Inspector/Platoon Commander Recruitment Examination-2021 will be held afresh on September 20, 2026.
