The Rajasthan government under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has unveiled the Rajasthan Youth Policy 2026, replacing the earlier youth policy to address the changing population trends, global factors, and technological disruptions. Alongside this, CM Sharma also launched the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana, under which 1 lakh youth will be provided interest-free loans to enable them to become micro-entrepreneurs. The Youth Policy 2026 is structured around 8 core focus areas: skills and employment, entrepreneurship, education, health, social inclusion and gender equality, culture and arts, environment and green technology, and institutional framework. On education, the policy emphasises career counselling, access to quality education, skill-based learning, and special focus on Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies to prepare youth for the future job market. For social justice, guided by the principle of Antyodaya, the policy ensures equal opportunities for youth from marginalised sections, women, and tribal communities. A three-tier institutional framework will implement the policy — a high-level committee chaired by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, a state-level task force, and a core implementation committee. CM Bhajanlal Sharma also announced that Rajasthan targets 4 lakh government jobs and 6 lakh private sector jobs over the next 5 years. The policy seeks to connect youth with Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage while making them future-ready through digital literacy and green technology. It also includes provisions for youth engaged in the gig economy and unorganised sectors, a significant acknowledgment of the changing nature of work in India.
