The Prime Minister's Office announced on April 12, 2026 that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend and address a national-level 'Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan' on April 13, 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi at around 11 AM. The programme will witness participation of eminent personalities and women achievers from diverse fields, including government, academia, science, sports, entrepreneurship, media, social work and culture, and will highlight women-led development as a central pillar of Viksit Bharat 2047. The event has been strategically scheduled on the eve of the three-day Special Parliament Session beginning April 16, 2026, at which the government plans to move amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Constitution 106th Amendment Act, 2023) to implement the one-third women's quota in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies by the 2029 general elections, using 2011 Census data instead of waiting for post-2027 delimitation. Prime Minister Modi will use the Sammelan to build political and public momentum for the amendment and to highlight the government's flagship women-centric initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ujjwala, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin female co-ownership, and Mission Shakti. He is also expected to felicitate prominent women achievers across fields. Political observers view the Sammelan and the upcoming Parliament session as coordinated steps to place women's empowerment at the centre of the 2029 electoral narrative.
