Google announced a long-term clean energy partnership with Indian renewable developer ReNew Energy to develop a 150 MW solar project in Rajasthan, scheduled for commissioning in 2026. The project is expected to generate approximately 4,25,000 MWh of clean electricity annually — enough to power over 3.6 lakh Indian households. Under the agreement, Google will procure the energy attributes from ReNew as part of its commitment to address Scope 3 (value chain) emissions. With this deal, ReNew's commercial and industrial renewable energy portfolio expands to 2.7 GW, consolidating its position as India's leading corporate clean energy provider. The project aligns with Rajasthan's positioning as India's leading solar energy state — with over 20 GW of installed solar capacity — under its Rajasthan Solar Energy Policy. The initiative is significant for Rajasthan's economy as it attracts large-scale private investment in the renewable energy sector, creates skilled employment, and supports India's target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 under its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) to the Paris Agreement.
