In a landmark health policy expansion, the Rajasthan government rolled out interstate portability under the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya (MAA) Scheme starting December 19, 2025, enabling eligible Rajasthan families to seek cashless treatment at 36,229 AB-PMJAY empanelled hospitals across India as of 28 February 2026. The scheme, formerly known as Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Yojana, provides coverage of up to ₹25 lakh per family per year for a wide range of medical conditions — from minor surgeries to serious illnesses. To avail benefits outside Rajasthan, beneficiaries must present their MAA Scheme card; treatment commences following approval from the Rajasthan State Health Assurance Agency (RSHA). Since the implementation of portability, more than 1,000 patients have already received treatment across hospitals in 15 states. This expansion is significant for Rajasthan's large migrant population — workers in industries, domestic workers, and seasonal migrants who move to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, and Ahmedabad. It also aligns with the Central Government's Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme's portability framework. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that the MAA Scheme now integrates with the national hospital network, making Rajasthan a pioneer in state-level universal health coverage with cross-border portability. The scheme covers treatment across 1,700+ medical packages including cancer, cardiac procedures, kidney transplants, and neurological conditions.
