For the first time in Rajasthan, the Ghoomar Festival 2025 was held simultaneously across all seven divisional headquarters on November 19, 2025. The state-level main event was organised at the football ground of Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari had released the poster for the festival at Tourism Bhavan on November 13. The Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) hosted special training for Ghoomar dancers by renowned teachers from November 11 to 16. Ghoomar is the traditional folk dance of Rajasthan, historically associated with the Bhil community and later adopted by Rajput women; it is performed in a swirling style wearing a ghaghra (full circular skirt). UNESCO inscribed Garba of Gujarat, not Ghoomar, on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2023; therefore Ghoomar should not be described as a UNESCO-inscribed element. The festival is a key initiative of the Rajasthan government's Tourism and Cultural Affairs departments to promote folk art, increase tourist footfall, and provide livelihoods to traditional artists across the state. The Bhajanlal Sharma government has made cultural tourism promotion a priority under its state tourism policy.
