A U.S.-India Space Business Forum was convened in Bengaluru on February 10, 2026, as part of the broader U.S. Department of Commerce Space Trade Mission running from February 9 to 13, 2026. The forum brought together 23 senior executives representing 14 leading American space companies, signalling growing momentum in bilateral commercial space cooperation.

The event was addressed by the Secretary, Department of Space (India), who delivered the keynote address. The forum focused on key growth areas in the emerging NewSpace economy, including commercial launch services, satellite manufacturing, Earth observation, and in-space infrastructure development.

India's space sector has undergone a major transformation following the liberalisation of the space economy in 2023. The establishment of IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre) and the rise of Indian private space start-ups have made India an attractive destination for global space investment and co-development.

The Trade Mission underscores the deepening of the India-US strategic partnership in space. Both countries have previously cooperated under the ARTEMIS Accords and bilateral technology agreements. The forum aimed to identify concrete collaboration opportunities in areas such as co-production of satellites, launch vehicle technology sharing, ground station networks, and joint bids for international satellite communication contracts.

India's cost-competitive manufacturing, growing launch infrastructure at Sriharikota and the upcoming Kulasekarapattinam launch site, and a strong pool of space engineering talent position it as a natural partner for U.S. commercial space companies seeking diversification and scale.
