Sacred relics of Lord Buddha, a National Treasure of India, returned on October 19 after a week-long exposition (October 11-18) in Kalmykia, Russia. The relics were enshrined at the Geden Sheddup Choikorling Monastery ('Golden Abode of Shakyamuni Buddha') where over 90,000 devotees paid homage. The Indian delegation was led by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who described the event as 'a milestone in India-Russia cultural ties.' The exposition revived the legacy of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, the revered Buddhist monk and diplomat from Ladakh. This was the first such exposition in the Russian Republic.
