Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Karnataka on 15 April 2026 and at around 11 AM inaugurated the Sri Guru Bhairavaikya Mandira at Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri in Mandya district. The Mandira is a memorial dedicated to the revered seer Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji, the 71st Pontiff of the Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, and is constructed in the traditional Dravidian architectural style. The Math, which traces its history over more than two millennia and serves as the principal seat of the Vokkaliga community in Karnataka, runs an extensive network of educational, medical and rural-development institutions across the state. The Prime Minister also offered prayers at the Sri Kalabhairava Temple and visited the Jwala Peetha within the Math complex. During the visit he jointly released the book "Saundarya Lahari and Shiva Mahimna Stotram" along with former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the Math's tradition of seva — through schools, colleges, hospitals and engineering institutions — embodies the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and credited the Vokkaliga community's contribution to Karnataka's social fabric. Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, Union ministers from Karnataka and senior leaders of the Math attended the ceremony.
