On November 10, 2025 (with security preparation underway by November 9), a powerful car explosion occurred near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi at 6:52 pm IST, killing at least 9 people and injuring over 20. A white Hyundai i20 packed with ammonium nitrate fuel oil (ANFO) and other explosives had been parked near the iconic heritage monument for over 3 hours before detonating. DNA analysis of remains found in the vehicle identified a suspect linked to Pulwama. By November 12, the Government of India officially classified the incident as a terror attack by 'anti-national forces', invoking the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). PM Modi alleged a 'conspiracy' targeting national security. Airports, railway stations, government buildings, and heritage sites — including in Rajasthan (Jaipur's Amber Fort, Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort, Chittorgarh Fort) — were placed on high security alert. The incident raised sharp debates on urban counter-terrorism preparedness, surveillance of heritage sites, and the need to upgrade India's National Security Architecture.
