Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the South India Natural Farming Summit 2025 at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 19 November 2025 and from the same platform released the 21st instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, transferring over ₹18,000 crore to about 9 crore farmers across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer. The Prime Minister stated that under the PM-KISAN scheme, ₹4 lakh crore has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of small farmers so far, enabling them to meet various agricultural needs. The Summit, held from 19 to 21 November 2025 and organised by the Tamil Nadu Natural Farming Stakeholders Forum, witnessed participation from over 50,000 farmers, agricultural scientists, industry partners, startups, innovators and organic input suppliers from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Addressing the gathering, Shri Modi asserted that natural farming is the need of 21st-century agriculture and that excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides is reducing soil fertility, affecting soil moisture, and increasing the cost of farming year after year. He emphasised that the solution lies in crop diversification and natural farming to revive soil fertility and enhance the nutritional value of crops. The Prime Minister noted that through the Kisan Credit Card scheme alone, farmers have received assistance exceeding ₹10 lakh crore this year. He added that the extension of KCC benefits to livestock and fisheries sectors seven years ago has benefited those engaged in these areas, and the reduction in GST on bio-fertilizers has further helped farmers. He said India is on the path to becoming a global hub for natural farming, with youth viewing agriculture as a modern, scalable opportunity that will strengthen the rural economy.
