As part of his five-nation tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to Norway on 18-19 May 2026, marking his first-ever visit to the country and the first Prime Ministerial visit from India to Norway in 43 years. The visit will also feature the Third India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, bringing together India and the five Nordic countries - Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland - to deepen cooperation across strategic, economic and technological domains. During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will meet Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway and hold bilateral talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere. He will also address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit. The discussions and the India-Nordic Summit are expected to focus on technology, renewable energy, sustainability, Arctic cooperation, defence, space and resilient supply chains, with anticipated deliberations on trade, investment, clean technology, green energy and the blue economy. The visit reflects India's growing strategic engagement with the Nordic region, which is significant for India's access to advanced clean-energy technology, maritime and Arctic research, and resilient supply chains amid global economic uncertainty. The India-Nordic Summit format, first held in 2018, provides a multilateral platform that complements India's bilateral relationships with each Nordic country and strengthens India's broader Indo-European outreach. The Norway leg follows PM Modi's engagements in the UAE, the Netherlands and Sweden during the same tour, underscoring an intensified Indian diplomatic push on energy security and high-technology partnerships.
