On the occasion of International Yoga Day, 21 June, Union Minister of Railways, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will be on a visit to Bikaner. During the visit, he will inaugurate the new rail service running between Bikaner and Sabarmati and flag off the train. Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will also take part in the programme. According to railway officials, the railway minister's visit has been confirmed, although his detailed schedule has not yet been released. Under the proposed programme, along with reviewing the progress of various government projects, he may also participate in several public events. As per available information, Ashwini Vaishnaw may also visit the NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology) centre located on the Dungar College campus; this centre operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. In addition, he will take part in the main function of International Yoga Day organised at the Karni Singh Stadium and perform yoga. With the railway minister's proposed visit, the city's long-awaited Kotgate-Sankhla Phatak underpass project has once again come into discussion, and there is speculation in railway and administrative circles that this project too may be inaugurated during the visit; however, no official announcement has been made so far. Earlier, Ashwini Vaishnaw had come to Bikaner in May 2025 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Palana. This visit again brings the city hope of new rail and infrastructure projects. The new rail service will give passengers better connectivity, while the economic and social development of the region is also likely to gain momentum.
