The Rajasthan Public Works Department under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on 3 June 2026 approved 77 road construction and upgradation projects worth Rupees 676.74 crore covering a total road length of 686.42 kilometres across more than 33 districts of the state. The sanctioned works are part of the state government commitment to enhancing transport infrastructure under the Rajasthan Budget 2026 27 and aim to strengthen connectivity improve road safety and accelerate economic development in both rural and urban areas of Rajasthan.

The package includes a mix of new road construction widening of existing single lane and intermediate lane roads pavement strengthening of damaged stretches and improvement of rural connectivity routes connecting villages to mandi towns block headquarters healthcare facilities and educational institutions. Several projects fall in districts such as Udaipur Jaipur Sikar Jodhpur Barmer and Dholpur where road infrastructure has been identified as a critical bottleneck for industrial investment under the Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy 2026.

According to senior officials of the Public Works Department tendering for most of the projects is expected to commence within the next few weeks with physical construction likely to begin during the current financial year. The Chief Minister has repeatedly emphasised that quality road infrastructure is essential for driving economic growth attracting investment in semiconductor and data centre clusters and improving public convenience reflecting the four pillars of the Viksit Rajasthan 2047 vision of Green Governance Growth and Globalisation.
