During his State Visit to Seychelles from 27 to 29 June 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held official talks with Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie at State House in Victoria, on Mahé island. The discussions covered all aspects of bilateral relations, with both leaders agreeing to further strengthen cooperation in health, education, capacity building, digital transformation, sustainable development, social infrastructure, renewable energy, maritime security and defence. They exchanged views on regional and global developments, including challenges in the Indian Ocean region such as illegal fishing, drug trafficking and piracy. The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the progress in implementing projects and initiatives under the special economic package announced by India. After the official talks, the leaders released a joint commemorative logo marking 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. Several MoUs/agreements were then exchanged in the areas of capacity building, UPI, health, agriculture, shipping, space, extradition and Line of Credit. The Line of Credit amount is Rs 1,250 crore. Additionally, several announcements were made in support of Seychelles' development needs in food security, infrastructure, health, vocational training, maritime security and defence. Seychelles also announced joining the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). Later in the day, the Prime Minister addressed a special session of the National Assembly of Seychelles, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. He highlighted the historic bonds of friendship and shared values of democracy, rule of law and people-centric good governance.
