Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma launched the Rajasthan Artificial Intelligence-Machine Learning (AI-ML) Policy 2026 on January 6, 2026, at the Rajasthan Regional AI Impact Conference held at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC). The event, part of the larger DigiFest Rajasthan x TiE Global Summit (January 4–6), also saw the unveiling of the National AI Literacy Programme, the iStart Learning Management System, the Rajasthan AVGC-XR Portal, and the Rajasthan AI Portal. Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jitin Prasada attended the conference. The AI-ML Policy 2026 aims to expand e-governance through responsible, ethical, and secure use of artificial intelligence. It mandates provisions to reduce bias in AI systems, ensure algorithmic transparency, and safeguard data privacy. The policy envisions an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence for Rajasthan and requires AI education to be integrated into schools, colleges, ITIs, and polytechnic institutions. The National AI Literacy Programme focuses on making AI accessible beyond coders and technical experts — reaching children, rural communities, and non-experts. CM Sharma described AI as a transformative force in health, education, and agriculture, asserting that the policy would accelerate progress towards 'Viksit Rajasthan' and 'Viksit Bharat' goals. Rajasthan thus became one of the first Indian states to release a comprehensive AI-ML governance framework, positioning itself as a hub for responsible AI adoption at the sub-national level.
