India's Secretary (South) at the Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed India's strong commitment to South-South Cooperation for furthering science and technology collaboration with Global South partners on March 24, 2026. The collaboration spans diverse areas including affordable healthcare, smart agriculture, water and marine resources management. India has been leveraging its technological capabilities — including its AI tools, space programme, digital public infrastructure, and pharmaceutical manufacturing — to build partnerships with developing nations. India's bioeconomy has expanded from $10 billion to $195 billion in a decade, registering 17-18% annual growth, positioning the country as a global biotechnology hub. India also launched an indigenous Td Vaccine at the Kasauli Centre, marking a milestone in domestic healthcare innovation. With 5.8 million STEM professionals constituting 28% of the global STEM talent pool, India is well-positioned to lead technology transfer for the Global South. India's commitment to South-South Cooperation is in line with its role as a leading voice in multilateral forums such as the G20, BRICS, and the United Nations.
