Udaipur, Rajasthan's 'City of Lakes', received the prestigious Ramsar Wetland City Accreditation (WCA) in 2025, becoming one of India's first cities alongside Indore to earn this distinction. The accreditation was conferred during the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan Awards and Wetland Cities Recognition Ceremony organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. Udaipur is surrounded by five major wetlands — Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Rang Sagar, Swaroop Sagar, and Doodh Talai. The WCA, valid for six years, recognises cities for exceptional urban wetland conservation and biodiversity protection.
