The Ministry of Tribal Affairs observed 'Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada' from November 1–15, 2025, to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda (born November 15, 1875). Birsa Munda, known as 'Bhagwan' by the tribal communities, led the Ulgulan (Great Tumult) uprising in 1899–1900 against British colonial rule and the exploitative zamindari system in the Chota Nagpur region (present-day Jharkhand). He mobilised the Munda tribe to assert their land rights under the battle cry 'Abua Disum, Abua Raj' (Our Land, Our Rule). November 15 is observed as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas (Tribal Pride Day) since 2021. This year, events were held pan-India, celebrating the contributions of tribal communities to India's freedom struggle, culture, ecology, and heritage. The observance is significant for RPSC aspirants as Rajasthan has a significant tribal population — particularly Bhil, Meena (Mina), and Garasia communities — whose welfare is central to state policy.
