The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on January 21, 2026, at NHAI Headquarters in New Delhi to strengthen integrated infrastructure development. The MoU establishes cooperation in resource optimisation and integrated planning of National Highway and rail infrastructure, including rail-cum-road bridges and tunnels, multi-modal logistics parks, inter-modal hubs, grade separators and common utility corridors.

The collaboration will also cover technical expertise in project management, engineering design, construction methods, geological challenges and environmental management; safety and quality audits of tunnels and slope-protection works; possible use of surplus or underutilised land parcels; first-mile and last-mile freight and passenger connectivity; digital solutions; and a Joint Working Group to identify projects and monitor implementation. The MoU is valid for an initial period of five years.
