The Air India Group restructuring reached a major milestone with key integration changes taking effect from April 1, 2026. Following the Tata Group''s acquisition of Air India in January 2022, the airline has been undergoing a comprehensive transformation including fleet modernization, service upgrades, and organizational restructuring.

The latest phase of restructuring involves the merger and integration of Air India Express and AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India) into a unified low-cost carrier operation, streamlining the group''s budget airline segment. The full-service carrier Air India is also integrating operations with Vistara, following the Vistara-Air India merger announced in 2022.

Key changes from April 1 include unified booking systems across group airlines, harmonized loyalty programs, standardized service protocols, and integrated crew management. The Tata Group has ordered over 470 new aircraft (250 from Airbus and 220 from Boeing) in one of the largest aviation orders in history, with deliveries expected through 2030. The restructuring aims to establish Air India as a world-class airline competing with global carriers on international routes.
