Maharashtra launched 'Saksham', India's first AI-powered skill census, targeting youth aged 18-40 for improved employability mapping. The platform uses artificial intelligence to assess skills, identify gaps, and match youth with relevant skilling programmes and employment opportunities.

The initiative covers all 36 districts of Maharashtra and aims to create a comprehensive database of skilled and semi-skilled workers. The model could serve as a blueprint for other states including Rajasthan, which is looking to address its youth unemployment challenge through skill development initiatives under the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation.
