The IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 opened in Abu Dhabi on October 9-15, bringing together over 10,000 delegates from 189 countries. India's Union MoS for Environment, Kirti Vardhan Singh, launched India's National Red List Roadmap Vision 2025-2030 at the Congress.

Developed collaboratively by the Zoological Survey of India, Botanical Survey of India, and IUCN-India, the roadmap aims to assess nearly 11,000 species by 2030 and publish National Red Data Books. Indian wildlife conservationist Vivek Menon was elected as the new Chair of the IUCN Species Survival Commission for 2025-2029. The IUCN World Heritage Outlook 4 was also launched, noting that climate change is a high or very high threat to 43% of natural World Heritage sites.
